Alt-pop outfit Small Words unveils their brand-new single/music video, “Talk,” a song about the complex emotions that arise when confronted with the vulnerability of sharing.

Guitarist/bassist Aaron Lindauer explains,” ‘Talk’ is Small Words’ latest single, a heartfelt exploration of the challenges that come with expressing one’s emotions and feelings within a Relationship. The song delves into the delicate balance between wanting to maintain a harmonious connection with someone while also grappling with the weight of unspoken emotions.”

He goes on to add, “‘Talk’ invites listeners to reflect on their own experiences of communication within Relationships and the complex emotions that arise when faced with the vulnerability of sharing difficult truths. It serves as a reminder that open and honest communication, though challenging, is an essential component of fostering deeper connections and growth.”

Made up of Nick Long (vocals), Zach Carroll (guitar, bass), Aaron Lindauer (guitar, bass), and Daniel Glover (drums), Small Words began life as the solo project of singer-songwriter Nick Long, but soon evolved, shaping a full band.

Drawing inspiration from a variety of genres, including pop, rock, R&B, and electronic, Small Words blend catchy hooks and honest storytelling, revealing their desire to create music that resonates with listeners on a deep, emotional level.

From the beginning, Small Words took control of their artistic vision. Their debut full-length album, Violent Absence of Love, released last year, captures the essence of their sonic exploration, featuring a collection of anthemic tracks that explore the complexities of love, loss, and personal growth.

“Talk” opens with emerging, swirling tones flowing into a low-slung, smoldering melody riding a tight, undulating rhythm topped by Long’s evocative voice, at once urgently tender and a bit melancholic, exposing profound emotions and nostalgic remorse. A crying note accentuates the lamenting feel of the song, imbuing the harmonics with passionate punctuation.

With “Talk,” Small Words offers a delicious exploration of the communication necessary to maintain a relationship.
