Ghanaian afrobeats artist and producer Kuami Eugene collaborates with Nigerian American R&B star Rotimi on their new single/music video “Cryptocurrency.”

Talking about the video, directed by Ghanaian filmmaker Xbills Ebenezer, Kuami Eugene shares, “What I love most about this video is the blend of that new generation AI vibe, and classic African royalty and heritage. It’s a touch of culture and class.”

Released via Lynx Entertainment and EMPIRE, ‘Cryptocurrency’ is the second lead single from Kuami Eugene’s highly anticipated third studio album titled Rags2Riches, which is set to be released this summer, on the back of Kuami’s upcoming African tour that begins this May.

Written by Kuami Eugene and Rotimi, and produced by Kuami himself, “Cryptocurrency” sees both stars in their element, as they showcase lush vocals and melodies, tongue-in-cheek relatable songwriting skills, and impeccable musicianship, over the infectious afrobeats soundscape.

With over 200 million global streams, international hit singles like ‘Angela’ and ‘Wish Me Well’, and multiple awards under his belt, including ‘Most Promising Artist In Africa’ at the All Africa Music Awards earlier in his career, and more recently, ‘Artiste of the Year’ at the Ghana Music Awards, Kuami Eugene is undoubtedly one of the biggest new stars in Africa.

Brimming with dynamic energy, “Cryptocurrency” opens on low-slung, sparkling piano tones flowing into an infectious, buoyant rhythm, featuring a thumping kick drum and fat, vibrating bassline. Soft, glowing vocal harmonies highlight the delicious vocals of Kuami and Rotimi, giving the lyrics cool, swanky flavors.

The video, reminiscent of Wakanda Forever, depicts visuals ranging from traditional to cutting-edge technology, giving the images revealing juxtaposition.

Bright and breezy, “Cryptocurrency” blends irresistible afrobeats with the stylish voices of Kuami Eugene and Rotimi.
