During the episode, Dion turned down the opportunity to enter the property, which he described as very dirty, with sewage everywhere.

Speaking to the camera, he addressed the Homes Under the Hammer viewers, saying:  “When you take on a property like this, in this condition, the first thing you’re going to have to think about is skips and how many you’re going to need.

“It all needs to go before you see what you’ve got to work with. Now, I’m not going to be going in there because there’s sewage, it’s incredibly filthy and there’s signs of a rat infestation as well.”

Dion also revealed that he and the camera crew weren’t allowed to enter the property, which was deemed unsafe.

Despite the 54-year-old saying the property was terrible, married Couple Yan and Clara, who bought the two-bedroom house at an auction for about £20,000, were still determined to take on the challenge.

Truck driver Yan disclosed that fixing houses was like a fun project for him and that when he saw the house in Hanley, he knew it was the “right” project to start.

He said: “It’s like a hobby for me, I did houses with friends before, so I’m looking to do it in my free time.”

However, after a close inspection, Yan discovered the property had no plumbing or electricity when they purchased it.

He admitted: “Everything needed to be done.”

Fortunately, despite the lack of facilities, the buyers entirely transformed the property and eventually rented it out to a family for £800 each month.

In other news, Homes Under the Hammer viewers were gobsmacked after a buyer dramatically transformed a £165k property in disrepair.

Host Dion was worried during the episode when property developer Victoria paid double the price at auction for a rundown West Midlands home.

BBC experts estimated the guide price at auction to be around £79,000, despite it ultimately selling for more than double the price at £169,000.

Victoria gave herself three months to make the renovations, hoping to knock down the downstairs wall and open up the living room with French doors.

Dion was floored to discover that she had managed to finish the property makeover within the short timescale she had set herself.

Victoria explained: “One of the first things I did was put in some decking in the garden for whoever comes in to live here.

“A lot of work went into the garden to make it a usable space.”

The outside area’s staggering transformation saw it opened up and turned into an outside building.

Her efforts paid off, with the home now worth more than £200,000, meaning she will get at least £850 per calendar month in rent, equating to a 5% yield.
