At its 77th annual awards Sunday, the BAFTA awards—that would be independent arts charity the British Academy of Film and Television Arts—honored the best in film over the past year. It’s an awards ceremony that many in the US will watch with particular interest, as its nominations deviated notably from its arguable American counterpart, the Academy Awards: Barbie only scored five nominations, for example, and Lily Gladstone, who is widely believed to be a frontrunner in the best actress Oscar race, was passed over by the British awards.
As opposed to most American awards shows in recent years, the BAFTAs won’t be hosted by a comedian. Instead, actor David Tennant will take the stage, joined by performers including Sophie Ellis-Bextor, who’ll be singing Europe’s most played song of 2002: “Murder on the Dancefloor,” which is enjoying a second life as the capper to multiple nominee Saltburn.
Other nominees to watch are Oppenheimer, which leads the list with 13 nominations; Poor Things, which follows with 11; and Killers of the Flower Moon and The Zone of Interest, which each scored nine.
Officially known as the EE BAFTA Film Awards (EE is a British mobile network that sponsors the event), the awards ceremony will be held in London on Sunday, February 18, at Southbank Centre’s Royal Festival Hall. An edited version will be broadcast in the UK on BBC One and its iPlayer streaming service at 7 p.m. local time (2 p.m. ET). In most other countries, it will be streamed on the BritBox International platform at that time.
Below, find a complete list of BAFTA’s 2024 nominations with each category winner in bold; it will be updated live as the ceremony continues.
