When Leomie Anderson took to the red carpet at our GLAMOUR Women of the Year Awards in Partnership with Samsung, we started taking notes.
Her sky-high ponytail, created by hair stylist, Seraiah, was giving us all the thowback Y2K energy we need. As for the anatomy, the style featured a deep side-parting to create a sweeping fringe that was so full it covered half of her right eyebrow, a ponytail so high we could barely see the top of it, flicky waterfall layers for added volume and swish, dinky Braids wrapped around the hairband for added detail and some straight strands pulled loose around her ears for softness.
The overall effect was very much Bratz doll vibes and we’re ready to copy it asap.

As for the inspiration behind the style, Leomie’s hairstylist, Seriah, told us “all my inspiration comes from the holy spirit. I get.a brief and I rely on Him to tell me what to do. With this look in particular, Leomie wanted a doll look, but edgy. So I decided to do a twist on the classic old-school flicked ponytail by creating layers using virgin hair extensions provided by me to give the hair movement and bounce,” Seriah continued: “I added some detailing with a hand-braided band at the base of the ponytail and finished off the look with a sleek side-swoop bang.”
It’s clear Leomie was feeling her look as she took to TikTok with a close-up video captioned “hello motherf*cker 🤭 glamour awards ready”.

To finish off her look, Leomie paired it with a noughties ombre glossy lip, softly smoked eyeshadow and a soft matte complexion with all the right glow in all the right places. As for her outfit, Leomie wore a structured monochromatic grey and black babydoll mini dress and sky-high, thigh-high latex heeled boots. So, next time we fancy skipping our regular ponytail, Leomie Anderson is here to help us raise our game.
But alongside, lighting up our red carpet, Leomie had an important job to do, presenting our Musician of the year Award to GLAMOUR’s winner, Leigh-Anne Pinnock. Honouring Leigh-Anne in her speech, Leomie said: “This year has not only seen her launch her impressive solo career with her first single Don’t Say Love, but later this month will also see the publication of her memoir, Believe, in which she encourages us all to stand up for what we believe in – something she is no stranger to. In recent years, she has used her voice to explore racism and discrimination – advocating for a fairer and more equitable music and entertainment industry. She has launched The Black Fund – which supports grassroots charities in the Black community through their Give Back grants. And I couldn’t be more proud of her.” We couldn’t have put it better.
