Beyoncé and Solange’s mom, Tina Knowles-Lawson is reportedly separating from husband Richard Lawson after eight years of marriage.
Per court documents obtained by People, Knowles-Lawson, 69, filed for divorce on July 26, listing the Couple‘s separation Date as the day prior. Said documents cite the cause of their split as irreconcilable differences. They also note that the fashion designer asked the court to terminate its ability to award spousal support to her and the actor, 76, and that Knowles-Lawson requested her name be restored to Celestine Knowles. Reps for both stars did not immediately respond to POPSUGAR’s request for comment.
Knowles-Lawson and Richard began Dating in 2013 and got married in Newport Beach, CA, on April 12, 2015. They last attended Vanity Fair’s 2023 Oscars afterparty together, which Knowles-Lawson documented with an Instagram selfie on March 14. She captioned it, “Never been one to waste some good light!!! so we had to sneak a picture at the Vanity Fair Oscar Party last night with my boo. @mrrichardlawson.”
The pair’s Relationship marked the second marriage for each of them, with Knowles-Lawson having split from her former husband Mathew Knowles, father of Beyonce and Solange, in 2009. The former pair finalized their divorce in 2011 after more than three decades together. Richard, meanwhile, was previously wed to Denise Gordy in 1978 but they divorced in 1989. The two share their daughter, actor Bianca Lawson, and Richard is also a father to son Ricky Lawson from another relationship.
