You know who the real victim is in this latest Ariana Grande mess? Ethan Slater. At least that’s what his pals are worried about.
Sure, it seems by the timeline and all the information we’ve been able to glean thus far that the Broadway star cheated on wife Lilly Jay after 10 years together with Ari. And only when news of the 7 Rings singer’s secret divorce broke, when it looked like the “sloppy” Affair they were carelessly engaging in on the set of their movie Wicked would get outed, only then did he come forward and officially break things off with Lilly. Lilly, who had just given birth to his son. That Lilly.
But sure, he’s the vulnerable one here, right?

A source close to Ethan spilled to Us Weekly for this week’s issue that he and Ariana are “very much in love” — and therefore not thinking about the future or the fallout of their tryst. But the SpongeBob Musical star’s inner circle are all concerned about his feelings! The insider said:
“[They’re] worried she’ll break his heart.”
We’re sorry. They’re worried about him???
Not to be completely merciless here, but he should get his heart broken! This man cheated on his wife, then left her and their newborn son! Just sayin’ here.
As far as whether they should be worried? Well, they’re not wrong there. We mean, first off there’s the wisdom of the saying, “You lose ’em how you got ’em.” Relationships you start with someone where one or both of you are cheating? Well, they aren’t exactly building on a sturdy foundation of trust and honesty.
Then there’s the fact he seemingly threw away his longterm love for what may end up being just another Hollywood romance for Ari. Let’s face it, we’ve seen our share of these co-star hookups, the kind that end shortly after the project wraps. It’s just the nature of the thing, it’s convenient during filming, it feels like the real thing, especially if you’re super method. But then you move on to the next movie, the next tour, and things change.
So do we agree with this friends that Ethan is likely to get his heart crushed here? Well, yeah. But do we also think he’ll have it comin’? Sorry, but yeah. We’re still just feeling sorry for Lilly and Lilly alone here.
