As the sun rises in Sag Harbor on this episode of the Real Housewives of New York City, the ladies begin stirring, well, all but Jenna… Jenna snuck out of Erin‘s house the night before and went back to her own home, blaming the move on an early morning call and the freezing temps in Erin’s house. Will Erin allow Jenna back into her good graces or will she hold a grudge the way she did with Brynn?
Erin is overwhelmed hosting this group, considering the heat crapped out in the guest rooms upstairs. Jessel has no problem complaining to Erin about being freezing and even suggests she stay at a hotel for the night because of the cold. Ubah takes this as a chance to discuss Jenna’s sneaky escape from Erin’s.
Jessel suggests that perhaps Jenna left because “her house is by the ocean” and Erin’s “house is not.” Erin is annoyed and feels like Jenna doesn’t even deserve a room in her home if she’s just gonna leave! Sai can’t understand why everyone is complaining during a free trip and finds the constant criticism thrown at Erin annoying. Not sure what Erin is more irked about: the fact that she did not even get the chance to make her shakshuka (because Jenna made it crystal clear she could not eat that AND work out in the morning) or that Jenna left.
When Jenna rolls up to Erin’s, the room gets weird. She tries to justify her leaving, but Erin is not convinced. According to Sai, Jenna is acting like a “geriatric,” considering it was only 10:00 and they weren’t that loud that Jenna couldn’t fall asleep. Jenna refuses to take the blame for Erin not having a shakshuka ready and Ubah straight up tells Jenna that her sneaking out was “not the deal.”
After arguing over shakshuka, Erin’s personal trainer comes ready to kick this group into shape. Ubah is swooning over him, and they bond over an African connection. Ubah is excited to work out and she NEVER works out!
As Ubah allows the trainer to kick her butt, Brynn arrives, without anyone there to greet her. She bemoans that she has to drag her bags into the house all by herself but has no problem making her presence known once she sees the trainer. Ubah immediately becomes jealous of the flirtation coming from Brynn, and turns on her best work out mode, although, “Watching Ubah jump is like watching Kendall Jenner cut a cucumber.”
Post workout, Jenna swears to Erin that she had no intention of leaving the night before. Erin doesn’t let Jenna off the hook easily, but they come to some sort of a truce. When left alone Ubah fills Brynn in on Jenna’s exit from Erin’s. Brynn is not ok with this because she got her “a*s chewed out” for skipping out on a dinner reservation and here we are now, everything honky dory with Jenna. Brynn wants to be sure that everyone gives Jenna a hard time because she is sick of the double standard.
Jenna can’t get over that the ladies are able to rock khaki for lunch in the Hamptons but couldn’t get it together for her khaki themed party. The nerve! Erin is LOLing at the overdressed group for a Hamptons restaurant and Sai is just excited to be eating, since Erin hasn’t fed them yet. #ripshakshuka. Brynn begins sharing her Dating Advice and lets Ubah know that she just keeps nude pictures of herself in her phone, this way when a hot guy stands near her, she can whip them out the pics, peruse her phone, and have them sneak a peek, looking for more. Ubah’s move is to smile and ask for directions. Simple, yet direct.
Brynn refuses to let it go that Jenna left the night before. Seems like everyone is besties with Jenna after she was rude, yet Brynn is held to this high standard. Brynn makes a joke that nothing could ever be Jenna’s fault, and Erin is confused why Brynn is rocking the boat. How could Erin be SO angry at Brynn when she dipped out on the reservation, yet so forgiving of Jenna when she LEAVES HER HOUSE?! Erin retorts, quite simply, “well maybe I like her a little bit more.” Jenna claims that Erin forgave her because she’s “cute.” Brynn believes that the principle is not consistent, and she is annoyed that Erin is defending Jenna.
As the lunch goes on, Jessel’s constant complaints are called to her attention. Maybe Jessel should work on her delivery. Jenna shares that it didn’t “feel great” when Jessel made fun of the lingerie Jenna gifted her. Jessel, the girl who hasn’t had sex in two years, clearly has a lot of things to say about lingerie. After doubling down and a few backwards apologies, Jessel admits that she could have handled the situation better.
Getting ready for a chic at home dinner is made a bit more exciting when Ubah and Sai decide to spice up Jenna’s wardrobe. Because Jenna packed only jeans, sweaters, and button downs, Ubah loans Jenna a chic black dress, which everyone approves of.
Everyone is all smiles during dinner and for once, no one seems to be complaining, not even Jessel. A rousing game of two truths and a lie sheds a new light on our housewives. Erin reveals that she has had sex with a senator. Sai shares that she likes a light choke. Someone fell asleep on Jenna during sex. And Jessel tells a story of a popsicle in her vagina, a story, like Erin, I am “very disturbed, but yet intrigued” by.
After dinner, Erin fails once more when she can’t get the fire pit lit and after much ado (including facetiming “Abe the Babe” and Sai trying to throw matches into the gas), the fire finally comes to life. Jenna and Erin bond over their love of the dollar store, but Sai jumps in and explains that she doesn’t like it because she grew up poor. Sai realizes that family is the most important thing, especially because of the way she was raised.
She shares that she was always the new girl, changing schools all the time, and she moved out when she was 16. Sai worked at Sears and lets the group know that her mom couldn’t afford to take care of her. She even had to sneak into college until she dropped out her junior year when eventually, she couldn’t afford it. Sai believes that her manifestation was her drive, and Brynn connects with her about dreaming of a better life. It is clear why Sai seems to have a tough exterior. She has been through a lot.
Erin interrupts the story of Sai’s life to ask Jenna one burning question: will she be staying at her home for the evening? Jenna agrees to stick around for the night, but let’s just hope she brought her ear plugs and parka…
