Sofia Richie is counting down the days until she says, “I do,” and she just got one big step closer this week after completing her conversion to Judaism.

The daughter of Lionel Richie revealed on her Instagram Stories on Monday that she has been attending conversion classes in the lead-up to her wedding to fiancé Elliot Grainge. “What a magical day,” she wrote over an image of herself signing a document written in Hebrew. She continued, “I want to thank cantor Nathan Lam for helping me along this journey of converting to Judaism. It has been one of the greatest experiences of my life.” Richie concluded, “Today was that day!!!,” adding five Star of David emojis.

The Instagram influencer was raised Christian and even attended Oaks Christian School in Los Angeles, California. In 2016, she discussed her education there with Complex, telling the outlet, “I went there for two years, and that’s where I got my sense. My family wanted church to be a place where we all went together. My dad was always traveling and my mom was always working. School is where I did Bible classes and studied God.” She went on to call her religion her “main ground” and “the most interesting thing in my life.” Richie also noted that it was important to her to find someone who shares her beliefs, explaining, “One of the key factors of life is love, and the key factor of God is love, so having that understanding is really important in a Relationship.”

The model is set to marry Grainge, a music executive, later this year. Grainge is the son of Universal Music Group CEO and chairman Sir Lucian Grainge and was raised Jewish. He also previously revealed that he had one of the U.K.’s biggest boy bands perform at his bar mitzvah. “Take That played at my bar mitzvah! They were No. 1 in the UK at the time,” he told JewishBoston in 2013. “The party was great fun and gave me a real taste of how to create an exciting party.”

The music executive proposed to Richie last April while they were on a tropical vacation and she shared two photos from the special moment on her Instagram at the time, writing, “Forever isn’t long enough @elliot.” And shortly after he popped the question, Lionel confirmed that the pair have his blessing, telling Access Hollywood, “I love Elliot. I’ve known him since he was 12…It was one of those things where I don’t have to go back and check out the kid. I know who it is.”
