South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham lambasted Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene on Sunday after she defended the suspected Pentagon documents leaker.

“There are military members serving today from Georgia and other places who are less safe because of what this airman did,” Sen. Graham said on ABC’s “This Week.” “There is no justification for this, and for any member of Congress to suggest it’s OK to leak classified information because you agree with the cause is terribly irresponsible and puts America in serious danger.”

Greene voiced her defense of the alleged leaker earlier this week. “Jake Teixeira is white, male, Christian, and antiwar. That makes him an enemy to the Biden regime,” Greene, who is a member of the House Homeland Security Committee, tweeted. She continued, “Ask yourself who is the real enemy? A young low level national guardsmen? Or the administration that is waging war in Ukraine, a non-NATO nation, against nuclear Russia without war powers?”

On Sunday, Graham called Greene’s comments “one of the most irresponsible statements you could make.” The Republican senator also denounced the leaker, adding: “The ability for America to gather intelligence from human resources on the ground has been compromised. We can’t have a chaotic intelligence-gathering system. If you give us information and it’s disclosed, you can lose your life. The way we gather intelligence protects our country.”

Teixeira, the 21-year-old air national guardsman, was arrested on Thursday “in connection with an investigation into an alleged unauthorized removal, retention and transmission of classified national defense information,” said Attorney General Merrick Garland. Teixeira allegedly posted the documents onto the social media and gaming platform Discord.

A few others have blasted Greene’s remarks. On Saturday, former CIA Director John Brennan unabashedly said on MSNBC: “From my perspective, I think Marjorie Taylor Greene has demonstrated time and time again that she’s not fit to hold public office with some of her commentary that she has made, even previously.”
