Last week saw RVSHVD release his incredible new single and music video, titled “Reverse”. The track easily showcases why he is a rising artist in the music industry while also allowing the listeners to relate to the track as he delves into the realisation that one was happy in a previous Relationship. This follows up his previous single “Hit Different“.

RVSHVD, real name Clintarius Rashad Johnson, is a singer-songwriter from Willacoochee, Georgia. He started out studying the music of Lil Wayne, Eminem, and Tupac before becoming a self-taught R&B singer. It wasn’t until he discovered a track by Keith Urban did he fully realise that country music was for him, and this led him down a different path, allowing him to infuse the R&B style that he had come to know, into his new-found love of country music. In doing so, he’s created this whole new path and is continuing to show the world that music is for everyone regardless of genre. Blending the two worlds together really makes him a driving force in the world of music and that is clear on Spotify, where his collaboration with Cooper Alan, titled “Colt 45 (Country Remix)” has gained over 24 million streams with his 2020 single, “Ballin’” just behind at 17.3 million. His music just proves that combining country with black influences is not only innovative but also inspirational.

Talking about the track, RVSHVD said: “‘Reverse’ is for anybody that’s been in a relationship but let it go too easy. Then after leaving, you realized how happy you were with them when all you had to do was go back or ‘put it in reverse.’”

Written by Christopher Roen Valenzuela, Clintarius Rashad Johnson, Goodwin Alexander Coburn, Kalvin Austin, and Michael Paul Ferrucci, whilst it was produced by Dream Addix, “Reverse” is RVSHVD at his best, ultimately blending R&B with a southern country vibe to create an unforgettable anthem with incredibly relatable lyrics. With a groovy hook that is sure to sink its way into your head, we hear in the “Reverse” lyrics how he just wishes he had turned the truck around and stayed happy in the relationship. The hook is the key to this track, its addictive country style flows across the chorus, linking the entire track together, while RVSHVD’s awesome R&B vocals add deep emotional integrity to “Reverse”, easily making an impact on the listener. This is totally one of his best releases to Date and we will be listening to the track on repeat.

The accompanying music video links perfectly with the track itself, giving us both a performance visual and a narrative. RVSHVD showcases how much this song means to him as he puts his all into performing the track to the camera, giving us strength and emotion. As for the narrative, we follow a guy who is driving a truck, and we watch as he reminisces about a relationship where he was happy and in love with a beautiful woman. As the scenes develop, we watch the time they spend together showcasing their connection. The ending scene sees RVSHVD driving by the red truck from the narrative, where we watch the male actor driving all alone, possibly turning that truck back around, and deciding to fight for the relationship.
