Written by Geoff Schneider and John Patrick Geoghegan, whilst it was produced by Vic Steffens, Geoff Schneider, and Michael Caplan, “Light of the Moon” is a groovy rock’n’roll jam-style song that has various genre vibes going for it including blues, jazz, psychedelic rock, and Americana. Geoff Schneider initially takes lead vocals with Milo Barer also taking the reins later on in the song, with both vocalists shining with gorgeous harmonies during the chorus. Rhythmically groovy throughout, Red Matter effortlessly showcases their gig experience with the lively melody of the track. Lyrically, the song is full of positivity of living life to the fullest under the light of the moon, the uplifting and encouraging lyrics wrap around the joyful tune of the track, creating a pleasing atmosphere. The band also impresses with the tuneful mid-track instrumental that allows all the band members to showcase their skills, and in doing so, the band make sure the listeners remember the track.

Alongside the release of their debut single, Red Matter have also dropped an accompanying music video, which has been directed by Edwin Escobar. The opening scene sees the band pile into a car, ready to go on a road trip – linking perfectly with the lyrics.
