After admitting she takes Ozempic, intended to treat those with Type 2 diabetes, Real Housewives of New Jersey star Dolores Catania is clarifying her comments. The drug craze seems to have taken the Real Housewives world by storm, and fellow RHONJ alum Jackie Goldschneider isn’t happy.
Speaking to Page Six on their Virtual Reali-Tea podcast, Dolores said “there are layers” to her jumping on the bandwagon. “I’m going through Menopause,” she explained. “I have a thyroid issue, I have inflammation and weight is hard to take off.” The New Jersey native added, “I work out, and I don’t eat crazy, and I was gaining weight, and it’s a lot of different layers.”
Dolores first admitted to taking Ozempic during an episode of Watch What Happens Live. She told WWHL host Andy Cohen that she didn’t want to turn up at the RHONJ reunion “looking any bigger than anyone else.” She also joked that “not one” of the other stars wasn’t taking the drug. I’m surprised they can find time in their busy schedules of trying to ruin each other’s lives.
“It’s not just for the reunion, by the way,” Dolores claimed. “Me and Andy were having like a funny kind of banter, and that’s all it meant.” The RHONJ alum admitted, “I have never gotten so attacked in my life. I will still be who I am regardless of what people want to say to me for it.”
On a personal level, I think the recent conversations surrounding Ozempic have been really irresponsible. The stars of Real Housewives shouldn’t be so keen on promoting the use of the drug. While some have denied doing it, others have used it as a way to gain media attention. It’s not a good look. Prescription drugs should remain exactly that.
