Electronic music producer Nitro Fun introduces his brand-new single, “Chase Me,” featuring Linney, via Dim Mak Records.
Talking about “Chase Me,” Nitro Fun shares, “The inspiration behind this track was a combination of rhythm games like ‘Dance Dance Revolution’ and modern rave sounds. I would spend so much time (and money) playing these games since I was like 5 years old that I had to make a tribute eventually! Working with Linney was very natural because she has similar inspirations. The first and only take of vocals that she sent was what ended up being used in the final version.”
While Linney explains, “Honestly, I’ve been really into ‘Fortnite’ recently and when I first heard the track, it made me think of something I’d want to listen to while I was racing around the map. So I wanted to write lyrics and melody that embraced that narrative. I hit record and ‘chase me, Romeo’ was the first thing I sang into the mic. I liked the idea of telling someone, ‘Okay, you wanna play games? – let’s go! But you’ll have to catch me first.’”
Gustavo Rangel, known professionally as Nitro Fun, is a Mexican electronic music producer. He debuted on Monstercat in 2013, with his remix of the song “Old Skool” by Televisor. Since then, Nitro Fun has released a series of hit singles and EPs, amassing millions of streams on Spotify.
“Chase Me” opens on bright swirling, twirling tones topped by Linney’s deliciously evocative voice, infusing the lyrics with vibrant timbres and emotional allure. Heavy, shimmering layers of leitmotifs ride a thumping kick drum, throbbing with energy as percolating colors bloom and expand. Dazzling drops shift the harmonics and then ramp up to a compelling blend of melodic house with feel-good vibes.
With “Chase Me,” Nitro Fun merges coruscating washes of house music, a contagious rhythm, and the swanky vocals of Linney into a magical track.
