Kylie Jenner is not exactly an enigma. She’s appeared on her family’s reality show (currently The Kardashians, née Keeping Up With the Kardashians) since she was a preteen. She posts often and gives interviews about who she “really is” with some frequency. She finally told us the name of her second child with Travis Scott (“Aire”). I don’t want to suggest she tells the public everything, but she tells the public enough to dispel much sense of mystery. Timothée Chalamet is also kind of an open book. He’s worked steadily over the years on well-chosen, buzzy projects that require junkets and being charming in magazine articles. For the most part, we think we “get” Timmy Chalamet.
But together, as they are rumored to be, according to Dating-rumors/” target=”_blank”>TMZ and Entertainment Tonight? They are the odd Couple that has everyone asking, “What do they talk about?” Do they talk about the pressures of social media? Societal collapse? Moving to a farm in Malibu and raising chickens? A hint of mystery refurnishing both personas.
When reached for comment about their alleged budding Relationship last week, Jenner’s spokesperson said, “No comment.” This apparent relationship, Jenner remains quiet about. But other things she feels free to chat with a journalist about, like stealing her mom’s car when she was a teen and driving from Calabasas to Los Angeles.
“I stole my mom’s car a lot,” Jenner told HommeGirls for their most recent issue. “Because we grew up in Calabasas, which is outside of the city, it was very crazy if you went like 45 minutes into LA. It was a whole new world.”
“I used to take my mom’s car into the city, and I would make sure I was home before my parents woke up, which was at like 5:30 in the morning. I had to be home between 4 and 4:30 a.m.,” she said. “My mom [Kris Jenner] caught me once, and we had this huge meeting. She was like, ‘I know you’ve been coming home every morning at 4 a.m. and this can never happen again!’ That was probably as bad as it got.”
This little anecdote adds to the general mystery here. Mainly: Did Kris Jenner write that huge meeting off on her taxes?
Jenner also returned to a favorite topic: her pout. Jenner had her lips plumped all those years ago and then fatefully launched a lip gloss brand. Now, as ever, she’s not trying to disavow the choice. In fact, she said that “it was the best thing” she’s “ever done.”
“I think a big misconception about me is that I’ve had so much surgery on my face and that I was some insecure person, and I really wasn’t!” the youngest Kardasho-Jenner said. “Yeah, I love full lips and wanted full lips, but growing up I was always the most confident person in the room. I was the girl performing for everyone. I had my one lip insecurity thing, so I got lip filler, and it was the best thing I’ve ever done. I don’t regret it. But I always thought I was cute.”
But, if there’s a lesson here, it’s this: Even the self-described “most confident person in the room” has insecurities. But play your cards right and have Kris Jenner as a mother, and you can turn that single insecurity into liquid gold. And nearly 10 years later, you can have a un-confirmed relationship with Hollywood darling Timothée Chalamet.
