NFL Star Lamar Jackson Trends On Twitter After Quarterback Reveals He’s Requested A Trade From Baltimore Ravens

Lamar Jackson recently revealed that he’s requested a trade from the Baltimore Ravens as the two sides were unable to negotiate an agreement on a new contract.

On Monday (Mar. 27) MVP quarterback Lamar Jackson, who represents himself, took to Twitter to reveal that he requested the trade from the Ravens on March 2 because the team “has not been interested in meeting my value” in terms of his contract.

Lamar’s statement was shared in a series of tweets. The 26-year-old wrote,

“A letter to my Fans

I want to first thank you all for all of the love and support you consistently show towards me. All of you are amazing and I appreciate y’all so much. I want you all to know not to believe everything you read about me. Let me personally answer your questions in regards to my future plans.”

Lamar continued,

“As of March 2nd I requested a trade from the Ravens organization for which the Ravens has not been interested in meeting my value, any and everyone that’s has met me or been around me know I love the game of football and my dream is to help a team win the super bowl.”

He added,

“You all are great but I had to make a business decision that was best for my family and I. No matter how far I go or where my career takes me, I’ll continue to be close to my fans of Baltimore Flock nation and the entire State of Maryland. You’ll See me again”

According to reports, the Ravens placed the non-exclusive franchise tag on the athlete on March 7 — five days after Lamar said he requested a trade — which allows him to negotiate with other teams. If Lamar signs an offer sheet, Baltimore would reportedly have five days to either match it or receive two first-round picks as compensation. If there is no offer sheet, Lamar would earn $32.416 million this season if he plays under the tag, reports state.

Reportedly, the NFL star has been in talks with the Ravens for the past 25 months, and it appears that guaranteed money is contributing to the delay in finalizing a contract.

Despite this, Ravens coach John Harbaugh said he believes Lamar will be his quarterback for the upcoming season. While speaking to reporters at the NFL’s annual league meeting at the exact time Lamar shared his tweets, John Harbaugh said,

“I’m getting ready for Lamar. When Lamar gets back on this train, it’s moving full speed.”

Following the announcement, Lamar spent some time as one of the trending topics on Twitter.
