The Victim Was ‘Bound & Placed In The Trunk Of His Own Vehicle’

According to a statement from the Seattle Police Department, the ordeal went down late last week at about 5 a.m., and witnesses saw the 63-year-old climb out of the trunk as the crashed vehicle was ablaze.

The unidentified victim went on to tell authorities that he had been “assaulted by several suspects” before being “bound and placed in the trunk of his own vehicle.”

Firefighters were able to swiftly extinguish the flames and transported the man to a nearby medical center for “non-life-threatening injuries.”

Neighbors Speak On The Situation: ‘He Was Beat Up Pretty Bad’

KING 5 News spoke with various neighbors who witnessed the incident unfold, including Raegan McKibbon, who helped the 63-year-old cross the street and get away from the car.

McKibbon recalled, “He was beat up pretty bad. They had cut his face with a knife and had beat him up pretty badly.”

Another neighbor named Cheng Yu looked back on hearing the man “scream for help” after the crash, noting, “We heard a screaming of ‘ahh, ahh.’”

Thankfully, as Brooks Mierow—the man whose home was crashed into—points out, “nobody got hurt,” and the outcome could’ve been much worse.”

“Nobody got hurt, the house didn’t burn down, you know, that can be repaired.”

As for the perpetrators, authorities apprehended an 18-year-old suspect, though he was eventually released. Police are still actively investigating and searching for additional suspects.
