GREAT British Bake Off fans have all said the same thing as it was revealed that Alison Hammond will be the show’s new co-host.
Avid viewers of the Channel 4 baking show gave the news of the new signing a unanimous thumbs up, predicting the hilarious This Morning favourite will be the perfect fit to replace comic Matt Lucas.
It has been reported that the 48 year-old has signed on to co-host alongside Noel Fielding and will start filming in the summer.
Channel 4 are set to officially announce her hiring within days, according to The Mirror.
After the news broke this evening, fans flocked to social media to voice their approval.
“That’s a damn good signing,” one cheered.
“SO MUCH YES” emphasised a second.
“Oh my god that’s a great choice! I sometimes watch some This Morning clips and she’s always hilarious!” a third weighed in.
“She is totally the right vibe for this. Great signing,” echoed a fourth.
And a fifth chimed in: “Yes, called it months ago as the best choice, I reckon she’s gonna be brilliant!”
Alison previously entered the nation’s most famous tent as a contestant on the celebrity version of the show for Stand Up 2 Cancer back in 2020.
Matt Lucas announced he was stepping down from the gig back in December after three years at the helm.
The comedian said he could no longer host it alongside his other projects.
The star, 49, also presents the rebooted Fantasy Football League for Sky with fellow comedian Elis James and said he wasn’t able to do both.
He wrote an emotional goodbye to fans – plus his onscreen pals “Noelipops, Paul and Dame Prue”.
Matt tweeted: “Farewell Bake Off! It’s been a delicious experience and I can’t imagine a more fun way of spending my summers.
“But it’s become clear to me that I can’t present both Fantasy Football League and Bake Off alongside all my other projects.
“So, after three series and 51 episodes, I am cheerfully passing the baguette on to someone else.
“I would like to give my warmest thanks and gratitude to everyone at Love Productions and Channel 4 and to Noelipops, Paul, Dame Prue, the crew and, of course, the wonderful bakers for welcoming me into the tent.
“I wish whoever takes over the very best and I can’t wait to tune into the next series without already knowing who won!”
